Article I. IN GENERAL |
§ 22-7. Repavement of roads.
To form up for repavement the following shall apply:
(1)
In order to avoid small and narrow patches which invariably fail in a short time, the following procedures must apply:
a.
Repavement of PCC panels must be at least one-half of the existing slab panel, but not less than five (5) feet. In addition, the remaining one-half of the slab panel may not be less than five (5) feet. If such is the case, the entire panel must be replaced joint to joint.
b.
Repavement of asphalt surfaces must be at least one-half of the existing roadway by not less than five (5) feet in length. An asphaltic tack coat must be applied to all edges when jointing new and old asphalt pavement. In lieu of asphalt not being available, concrete will be accepted as a substitute, providing all dimensional requirements are met.
(2)
Saw cuts shall be used to ensure uniform edges.
(3)
Joints to be used are the transverse butt joint and the longitudinal butt joint as detailed on the state DOTD standard plans.
(4)
All repavement shall be a minimum of six-inch thickness and shall be the same thickness as the existing pavement. Excessively thick existing pavement may be repaved to a lesser thickness than the excessively thick pavement with the approval of the public services administrator for parish roads or the state DOTD engineer for the parish for state roads.
(5)
All form-ups must be inspected by the public services administrator or his designee before pouring.
(6)
All concrete shall be four thousand (4,000) pounds per square inch twenty-eight-day strength minimum.
(7)
As soon as surface water evaporates, a white pigmented impervious membrane shall be applied.
(8)
Slab shall be protected from rain for at least two (2) hours after finishing.
(9)
Traffic control warning devices shall be maintained for a minimum of seven (7) days after pouring slab.
